KJERAG 9th JULY 2024 #hanggliding
Flying my Icaro 2000 Piuma glider down from the Kjerag cliffs.
Very beautiful day. Didn't see any people or tents on the mountain at all.
Very unusual now in the tourist season. I was the only person up here.
The whole mountain for myself. ( 3 base jumpers followed later )

An unusual mild Novemer so far. The road to Lysebotn is still open. No sunlight reach down into the fjord and valley this late in the year. Lots of running water. And a helicopter. Music by a local rock band: Kaizers Orchestra: ua-cam.com/video/q8Fw8fNghFw/v-deo.html

Hi, do you know where to communicate hang glider. for example, active forums. Chat room.
@@user-tm7us3ry2u sorry, but I’m not on any other place than YT. You have to do some internet searching. There should be a lot of places, all over the world 👍
Wonderful video as usual, and so impressive ! I'd be apprehensive about tackling such a small and hostile LZ !
@@lenezauvent many thanks 👍 sometimes there are no alternative landing options. Then the long time experience of landing in small and weird LZ come in handy 😁 actually landing in a tiny spot is not difficult. Usually there are many natural or man made objects to use as reference/way points close bye to judge where you should be at any time. As opposed to landing near a plastic cone in the middle of a large field. That’s just IMO 👍 cheers
Another spectacular flight 👍
@@freeflyer 👍👍👍thanks 😊
always so impressive my friend and sumptuous images with this beautiful Piuma 👌
@@babaglide thank you mate 👍😊 glad you like my videos. And thank you for commenting 👍👍👍
❤❤🥰😍🐖🥳🥳
@@zanavee4644 thank you for the 🐖Sunshine 🤔😂😘😍
Beautiful flight, thanks for sharing! Are you getting any lift near the ridge or is it sledge until landing?
@@grnadav thanks 👍 I don’t fly from these cliffs in any wind, so it’s just sled runs. But still spectacular 😁 awesome 😳 cheers.
Great video, Jan. The landing was not bad at all. Maybe a little bit rough, but landing in such a confined area is hard. I've done a lot worse than that 😂😉
@@Benjamin_Pedersen thanks Benjamin👍 you have that famous parking lot landing 😳 not many could have pulled that one off😄 but you did it perfectly 👍👍👍 cheers
@@TheFjordflier Thanks Jan 😊 .. But your landing on that 5 M2 spot, on the other side of the fjord, beats it. That was amazing! 💪🏼😎
@@Benjamin_Pedersen ha ha ha 🤣 yes, forgot about that one 😊 then we have one landing each for the HG landings hall of fame 😂
@@TheFjordflier 👍🏼😂
Nice video! Many years ago, when I was at Lysebotn at paragliding SIV course, we flew from the restaurant out to Kjerag and back one evening. It is uncommon that the conditions allow that, but this was a very warm day and we flew on a mix of thermals and convergence. So we landed at the camping. Land on this spot seems a bit small, specially with a hangglider. Super-place in general and a visit is highly recommended for all who has not been there. It feels cool just to sit on the camping drinking coffee and watching the mountains. Very spectacular.
@@SuperAnatolli you are absolutely correct 👍 it’s an awesome place. Well worth a visit 😊 nice to hear about your flight. Not the norm. A sled ride here is worth the effort😄 Thanks 👍👍👍
Super. Really appreciate that you don't add music. Lots of video posters should learn from you.
@@joealphons5772 thanks👍
Ha, after your last video from there where you took a left turn I and subsequently stuffed it in on a dime, I flinched a bit. But I guess compared to that, the basejump LZ is generous. Good job dodging these rocks. The whole flight looks absolutely magical.
@@andeurghl5574 thank you 👍 the LZ is actually very small, even for the base jumpers. I discovered too late that I was landing with a bit of tail wind 🙄cheers
@@TheFjordflier It is small indeed, I was just joking. But even with the tailwind, I think the slope landing was a good choice.
@@andeurghl5574 ha ha 😅 ok, sorry. That’s ok. The usable landing area is actually smaller than it appears from above. Since there was no manned safety boat I was pretty sure no base jumpers was in the landing pattern. So it was safe to land anywhere. Only drawback was the water poodle in the center of the LZ 😅 I never got that far 🤣take care 👍
en gang til, fantastisk
@@MartinRiedlbaumeister tusen takk igjen Martin 😊👍👍
Amateur, my arse! Excellent flying!
@@Ayerstairs ha ha 😄 a whack is a whack 😄 but thank you anyway 👍👍👍 take care
Your LZ at that site is very small. Well done!
@@juddk1338 thanks👍 yes it is. Even for the base jumpers 😄cheers
I have sat at an LZ and watched pros landing. Your landing was excellent.
@@adventureswitharizonaart6117 hahaha 😅 you are too kind. It was a terrible landing imo 🤔 but nothing damaged except the self esteem 😄 take care and stay safe 👍
Another winning video, you're getting very good at this. And of course your flying too.
@@rickh5454 thank you 👍 not sure about the flying though 🤣 cheers
Nice 👍
@@apaul13150 thanks 👍
Very impressive! It must be scary to aim for such a small landing zone near the water 😮.
@@webrambler88 thanks 😀 not scary, just 100% focus, but it has to be done without overshooting or coming in too short. Easier to do with some experience 👍 👍 cheers
Living here it is kind of a sin not to fly on any type of flying object😊
@@Kolyan1981 that is true👍 I’m glad I’m not a sinner then 😄cheers
Oh , man! So happy you really are! So nice landings. Same location I can afford only in mfs2020) so cool landings in turnings and fast - speedlandings! Really wow!❤

Morning like 3 or 4 am? Must be close to endless daylight this time of year....? Awesome take off!!
Thanks 😀👍 sunrise at 04:20, sunset at 22:51 😁 this is the south-west. In the north it’s sun 24 hours a day 😳cheers
Awesome as always! I don't get those dudes, spending on heli rides, build a catapult, to fall a few seconds, but show no interest in actually flying? None of them ever showed interest?
Thanks as always! I think they are happy with what they are doing. Those few seconds are pretty intense I would guess. I do understand them. If everyone is happy at the end of the day it's fine for me 😄 I get a bit of both worlds 😉So I'm happy 👌
Forgot to add: The helicopter rides are only 4 days a year. The rest of the year it's a 2-3 hours hard hike/climb to get up there. So something must make it worth the effort for those few seconds of flight 😉 Cheers. Edit: Quite a few of them actually do other flying sports. Like speedwings, paragliding or hang gliding.
Wow, so cool calm explanation and it is good to touch as many interesting worlds, as possible and choose the most trilling and desirable for you. Fly long fly safe. Cheers. Nice clip, jump, flight and landing in such a beautiful place on Earth.❤
@@Kolyan1981 Thank you very much for your very kind words. I'm glad you liked the video ☺👌👍Cheers.
They had quite the operation going. Two helicopters even! Landing in such a small space too… I’m just starting to learn, and think I’ll appreciate that even more once I start learning to plan landings.
It's the annual BASE jumpers operation. Gradually other flying sports have joined. The area is protected by the nature concervation act so helicopters are just allowed to land there those 4 days a year. I find landings the most fun part of a flight.👌 Just maybe on par with a vertical cliff launch. 😆You will do fine when you get some experience. Good luck with your training and stay safe 👍 And do post some videos on your channel.😀
Nice !!!👍
Thank you ! Vielen dank ! 😁
To land that spot looks pretty difficult! Well earned cheers man👍
Thank you 👍 safest place to land 👍cheers
Smooth , just made the beach ⛱
Landed exactly where I planned. With all the BASE jumpers around, in the air and on the ground it was the safest option. Cheers.
@@TheFjordflier, yes , your landings are precise ! Very accurate 👌 meat bombs with wings are awesome but hard to spot , just gotta keep out of range
@@ThePatMach ha ha yes.

Fantastisk, men BASE Jumper, hmm jeg vet ikke, crazy guys
Takk Martin. Fantastisk å kombinere hanggliding og basehopping 😆👍
Great video.
Many thanks 😊👍👍👍
That LZ is small, you pulled it off like it was easy.
Yes 👍 There was a steady flow of base jumpers landing all the time, so landing on the grass was not a great option. Neither was the water 🤣thanks 😊
That was close man 2:41
Yes. A bit too close 😳 but it worked out well after all 👍It had to. Cheers.
Toda una maravilla de paisajes 👍

Picture perfect ✨weather conditions here. As always, beautiful video J.
Thanks A. Sometimes the weather gods play nice ☺
Absolutely Hypnotizing! Just one question though, is there no risk of down-draft when flying close to the waterfalls?
Thanks for your nice comment 👍 I have never experienced any such downdraft myself, but cold water falling down a mountain should also cool down the air around. Sounds logical. Others may know it better.
Beautiful.
Thank you Arizona😀yes it is 🤩
